PRESIDENT – MESSAGE
In a world similar to a global village where new technologies assume an important role in the peoples’ mores, habits and traditions we don’t want to be a nameless island, we want to show what we are and what we are able to offer, we want to be in the world near those who look for us, any time of the day. In that sense, I’d like to welcome, through this new communication way, all those who wish to visit our Municipality.

It’s very pleasant to have you among us. We hope this virtual visit to be inviting to some good and enjoyable days in the Lands of the Alentejo. In this web-page you’ll have a small sample of what the Municipality can offer you. Either regarding natural heritage or the built heritage the offer is large: breath-cutting landscapes, millenary monuments, beautiful churches and chapels and pleasant leisure spaces are complemented by a flavorous gastronomy, our people’s hospitability and by a varied cultural and leisure offer. As the entire interior we’re also a land forgotten by the Central Power but, stubbornly, we work to offer the best life quality to the inhabitants and to the visitors. Come to know the richness of Mourão!
The Municipality of Mourão keeps safely giving adequate steps heading to a future with greater development and socio-economical integration in the regional space of the Alentejo. Our specificity affirmation where interiority ratios still dominate can’t prevent the municipality to involve itself in a more intense way in supra-municipal projects which may be the crowbar to the development of this municipality.
The work is not finished. Other equally important projects are being undertaken. My will and appeal to all the inhabitants of Mourão is, together with work, effort and dedication to privilege the interests of the Town Council,creating consensual opinions as to value and potentate the things we love, Our Land. The commitment of all for this objective is worthy, that’s why we have a collective responsibility.
